DIY Turnbuckle Wire Balustrade Kit For Timber Posts

The Standard Turnbuckle DIY Wire Balustrade Kit  suits straight and angled sections using timber posts and is a true do-it-yourself kit supplied with stainless steel fittings and wire rope for installation on-site. Although this system has a much more involved and time consuming installation process, it is ideal for those on a strict budget.

*** Suitable for sections under 10 metres **

Wire and tools need to be purchased separately, see above.

This kit includes:

2 x Econ Screw Eyes 6mm x 40mm

1 x Econ M5 Turnbuckle Hook/Eye

2 x 3.2mm Thimbles

2 x 3.2mm Swage Sleeves

Order 1 kit per wire run required.  WIRE TO BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY OR VIA THE ACCESSORIES OPTIONS ABOVE

How To Install Balustrade System

1 - Mark out and pre-drill all posts with 4mm holes at the required spacing.

2- Insert screw eyes into all pre-drilled 4mm holes.  Using a screw eye drive bit can cut down installation time.

3- Feed one of the thimbles onto the eye of the turnbuckle. (This may require some force).

4 - Feed one end of the wire onto a swage sleeve.  Then continue this end of the wire through the thimble on the eye of the turnbuckle.  Complete the loop by inserting the end of the wire back through the swage sleeve, leaving 2mm of protruding wire. Swage the swage sleeve two times spaced slightly apart using the HS-14CR tool on setting 3.

5 - Fix the hook end of the turnbuckle to the feed the other end of the wire rope through intermediate posts.  At the termination post end, feed the remaining swage sleeve into the wire.  Put the remaining thimble though the eye of the screw eye then feed the wire rope through the screw eye and around the thimble. Complete the loop by inserting the end of the wire back through the swage sleeve, leaving 2mm of protruding wire

6 - Tighten the tension of the wire by winding the turnbuckle.
